Aster

This plant recently got a new name in the scientific literature (Symphyotrichum novae-angliae)  but it’s a New England Aster. Even though it is ridiculously hot here the asters know it is almost fall. They tolerate the lack of water better than most flowers.  It’s the time now of asters, black-eyed Susans, Japanese Anemones and mums. Spring gets far too much credit.  The birds come now for the sunflower seeds.  There are raspberries on the vine.
